Knowledge, Attitude and Practice Regarding Therapeutic Communication among Nurses in Selected Government Hospitals in Oromia, Western Ethiopia, 2016

Abstract

Communication takes a special form in care and cure aspect which is totally different from the social communication or personal communication. Thus, the this study was to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice regarding therapeutic communication among nurses in selected Governmental Hospitals in Oromia, Western Ethiopia. Institution based cross-sectional study design was employed to collect data by structured self-administered questionnaire from 169 nurses working in hospitals in Oromia, Western Ethiopia and analyzed by SPSS version 20. About 83.3% of study participants have good knowledge, 72.2% of study participants have positive attitude and 75.8% of nurses utilize therapeutic communication. Majority of study participants have good knowledge and positive attitude regarding therapeutic communication.
