Abstract: This research analyzes the effects of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Environmental Practices on Business Sustainability at Kuriftu paper mill. Utilizing both descriptive and explanatory research approaches, the study gathered data from a target population of employees, managers, and the surrounding community, achieving a sample size of 538 through a census method. Data collection consisted of survey questionnaires and interviews, allowing for a comprehensive investigation of the relationships between CSR activities, sustainable environmental practices, and business sustainability. The findings reveal that economic, legal, philanthropic, and ethical responsibilities are significantly linked to business sustainability, with sustainable environmental practices identified as a crucial variable. Regression analysis indicates that, without the intermediate variable, 68.4% of the variance in business sustainability is explained by the independent variables (R² = 0.684). When the intermediate variable is introduced, this percentage increases to 74.1% (R2 = 0.741). The study emphasizes that firms should enhance their focus on sustainable environmental practices to improve the effectiveness of their sustainability initiatives, highlighting the importance of integrating these practices into their CSR strategies for better outcomes.

Abstract: The main goal of this study was to look into how SACCOs affect the economic empowerment of women in Adea Barga District, which is part of the West Shoa Zone in the Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia. The study focused on two main aspects of SACCOs: the loans and credit provided, and the dividends given to members. These factors were examined to understand their impact on women's economic empowerment. The study used both descriptive and explanatory research designs, and it followed a quantitative research approach. Probability sampling methods, specifically cluster and simple random sampling, were used to allow the researcher to choose samples from the target population with some personal judgment. A total of 36 questionnaires were used to gather primary data from 186 respondents. The data was collected through a 5-point Likert Scale questionnaire and then analyzed using SPSS Version 25. The research findings show that most employees or respondents in SACCO's Cooperative are about average in their satisfaction with Loans and Credit, and Dividend Paid to Members. The analysis results showed a strong positive and significant relationship between the dimensions of SACCO's Cooperative and the overall economic empowerment of women. The variables included in the study explained 82.1% of the variability in women's economic empowerment. Based on these findings, the researcher recommends that Adea Barga District's SACCO Cooperative should work on improving its Loans and Credit, and Dividend Paid to Members. It should also make long-term agreements with key customers to build reliability and responsiveness. The cooperative should stay informed about changing needs to better understand its partners and should focus on improving the economic empowerment of women through SACCO's Cooperative.

Abstract: Despite the Ethiopian government's efforts to promote youth participation in Small and Micro Agricultural Enterprises (SMAEs) as a strategy for economic development, youth involvement in these sectors remains low. The purpose of the study was to identify the variables affecting youth participation in small and micro agricultural enterprises and how this influences employment creation and income in Maya city, Oromia region, Ethiopia. The study employed a multi-stage sampling technique to select 180 youths from Maya City. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and econometric models. The probit model results showed that land size, comfort in group work, extension services, and awareness of agribusiness positively influenced youth participation in SMAEs, while risk aversion and educational level had a negative effect. Additionally, the endogenous regression model revealed that youth employment creation and income were significantly and positively impacted by participation in SMAEs (0.5 full-time jobs and 7009.2 Birr, respectively). If non-participants had engaged in SMAEs, employment would have increased by 0.35 full-time equivalents and income by 5499.7 Birr. This highlights the vital role of SMAEs in boosting income and employment opportunities for youth. Therefore, the study recommends introducing agricultural insurance and financial safety nets to mitigate risks, raising awareness through campaigns and educational programs, improving access to credit with tailored financial products, and fostering comfort in group work through team building and mentorship. These strategies can significantly enhance youth participation in small and micro agricultural enterprises, thereby improving income levels and employment opportunities.
