Abstract: This action research explores strategies to improve student engagement in biology laboratory activities among second-year students at Wolkite University during the 2025 G. C. academic year. The study aimed to enhance student participation and motivation by integrating structured hands-on experiments, real-world problem-solving exercises, virtual simulations, and interactive data tools. The research also examined the role of peer-supported tasks and technology enhanced instruction in fostering engagement. The findings could provide valuable insights into effective pedagogical strategies that stimulate enthusiasm and active involvement, ultimately leading to better learning outcomes. From the total target population of 16 second-year biology students, 8 low achiever’s students were selected from the target population based the class attendance, level of participation, and overall academic performance. During the data collection time, pre and post intervention survey was applied. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics (means and percentages) and Paired-t-test (to compare pre- and postintervention scores of the engagement change). Results indicate that students who participated in hands-on experiments and case-based questions demonstrated increased levels of active participation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The introduction of virtual simulations and interactive data tools significantly reinforced theoretical concepts, providing students with practical applications of classroom knowledge. Peer-supported tasks were shown to boost motivation and foster collaborative learning, enhancing overall engagement in laboratory sessions. Additionally, qualitative data from focus group interviews revealed that students felt more confident in their ability to tackle complex biological concepts when supported by both their peers and technology. The findings suggest that a combination of hands-on, collaborative, and technology-supported approaches not only improves engagement but also positively influences student motivation, learning outcomes, and overall performance in laboratory settings.

Abstract: The problem of the study arises from the state of social disintegration in several Arab countries, including Syria, as a result of the failure to nurture youth on the principles of citizenship. The study aimed to shed light on the relationship between values of citizenship, identity, and social cohesion. It also aimed to investigate the reality of applying values of identity and citizenship in the three forms of education: formal, informal, and non-formal. A new classification of educational forms that develop the values of citizenship, identity, and social cohesion in generations was presented. The study sought to explore the roles of each form individually and socially from the perspective of educational specialists in developing citizenship and identity values among learners. Additionally, the study utilized survey results to present a comprehensive future vision for integrating values of identity and citizenship within the three educational systems through an integrative curriculum. The descriptive approach was employed in this study using two methods (document analysis and interviews), and qualitative statistical analysis, rather than quantitative, was used to capture the reality and determine the requirements for the integrative curriculum. A predictive model has been developed to incorporate the values of identity and citizenship in order to achieve social cohesion through an integrative approach that utilizes the three educational systems in curriculum activities. The model has been presented in two forms: an expanded form (enriched with practical examples of activities), and a reduced form that illustrates the integration. The model was subjected to evaluation by a sample of specialists and experts to ensure its legitimacy. The study provided practical suggestions for applying the integrative model in the plan to modify the current curricula, and for adopting the model at the National Center for Curriculum Development for designing citizenship education activities, as well as adopting the model in educational college programs and teacher training institutes.

Abstract: A nation's most enduring asset is education which builds social structures while preserving cultural identity and enables people to develop intellectual and practical skills for progress. This research examines how Albanian language and literature supports cultural and social growth through an analysis of educational methods and classroom interactions that shape student communication skills and critical thinking abilities. According to Espinoza (2004) education quality surpasses natural resources in determining national wealth because it produces respectful daily interactions through greetings and expressions of gratitude. The teaching of Albanian language and literature functions as a foundational educational process which enables students to master their native language while developing critical and expressive abilities for literary text engagement. Modern curricula now focus on interactive approaches that use dialogic methods to promote interpretation and discussion and inquiry-based learning which transforms students into active creators of meaning. The educational approach mirrors international reform efforts which integrate language and literature throughout all educational levels to develop reading abilities and comprehension skills and interpretive competencies and creative expression while using interdisciplinary methods to place literature within broader cultural and intellectual frameworks. The present research investigates the obstacles teachers face when teaching linguistic and literary content in Albanian secondary education through a synchronic analysis. The research identifies specific barriers to propose effective solutions which will improve teaching methods and maintain literature education as an essential tool for developing modern communication skills and critical thinking and cultural understanding.
